Australia: ACMA opens applications for digital dividend auction
Regulator he Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has announced it was accepting submissions from parties interested in taking part in the upcoming digital dividend auction, set to begin on 16 Apr 2013. Prospective bidders had until 24 Jan to submit an application with an AUD 25k (USD 26,245) registration fee. The regulator was expected to announce the applications at the end of January for affiliations between bidders to be declared. The regulator confirmed that spectrum in both 700 MHz and 2.5 GHz bands would be offered, with each lot comprising a paired 2x5 MHz block of spectrum.
